XBox is now modded.......

i would use this:

Xecuter2_4976.02_MultiVer_256k

or maybe anything with a higher version number than that. I used that one to flash my TSOP, I haven't had any problems yet. If you want to know the most trouble-free way to install the Evox dashboard, go to xbox-scene.com forums and look for an iso called "Slayer's EVOX Auto INstaller 2.1," it can reformat and install evox on any new hd, along with a bunch of other useful programs like xbox media player, dvd region x, etc. Plus, all the menu options in evox and xbmp are already configured, so you don't have to edit any .ini or .xml files that much. Just remember to burn the iso onto a brand new CDRW, or else.

4977 is the latest, and the best.

I recommend against the slayer cd, since it does lots of stuff without you knowing just what it does.. it's better to set it up yourself and know exactly what went where.

I'm not sure what your question is, are we still talking about the bios or evox dashboard? For the bios, go with the executor 4977, get the latest evox dashboard as well. I would put the bios and/or dashboard on a Memorex CD-RW, I used a brand new 700mb CDRW on my Thompson DVD drive, and I didn't have any problems. here is a link to them:

these are the same ones I used, shipping will probably kill the deal though. You can get them at most retail stores for around $8.

You should also check to see if you have a Seagate HD in your XBOX, those are 10 gigs, but the last 2 gigs aren't partitioned. You could probably reformat and reinstall the HD with Slayers installer, just remember to back up your c:\ and e:\ drives first.

Also....I ripped apart my XBox (want to paint it) and I can get the motherboard to move and shit...but I wanna get EVERYTHING away from the case....including controller ports. How am I suppost to access the controller ports? I have looked at it many a time but still, can not figure out how to disassemble the damn thing. Any guides? any useful tips? thanks guys (and gals if one participates)

Should I unplug them from the board first?

No leave them plugged in to remove them, also keep your xbox power plugged in while disassembling, I recommend using electro magnetic screwdrivers too, fyi, this thread went from gayer to gayest when you mentioned painting your xbox

lmfao @ jurai

Does that mean that this xbox topic does another xbox topic up the ass?.....You're into sum weird porn Jurai.....not all that erotic or anything, just weird....but I guess it takes all kinds?

But just an update....I got most of it takin apart, got all the modchip stuff in the mail....now all I need to get is the BIOS and exo dashboard. I do believe u get those on #xbins...but right now it's down :-\. SO I guess we'll have to wait on that.

When your gonna diss someone, use coherent statements, and besides, everyone knows the only one who does xboxes up the ass is you

ok I admit it......my bad, but goodtimes aye? :cheers Lets not make this into a flamming statement or anything....I just want my questions answered. and obviously u have never seen the inside of an xbox, the controller ports are pluged into a board which is plugged into the motherboard (I figured out I have a v1.0 after I opened the box...) so u can do it both ways....

But anyways, all I really have left to know now is how to put evo dashboard onto the XBox. Arakon was against the whole slayer thing and he seems pretty smart on the subject so I would rather not....and as he said it does stuff w/o u knowing and I do like to know exactly what is going on and why. SOOOOO I want to know another way to put it on if any of you know. Thanks guys I appreciate your help GREATLY. Laterz

burn the latest evox to cdr/cdrw (edit evox.ini first), then ftp in and copy the files from cd to C:, rename default.xbe from the cd to evoxdash.xbe. that's all.

Well there aren't too many other ways to use FTP.

Arakon, would you think it likely that current research into the dashboard exploits is likely to turn up a "burn it to CD and boot evox solution"? Is this even technically possible?

no, not gonna be possible. all the exploits rely on replacing files on HD, which can be just as expensive and even more complicated than just getting a basic modchip and installing ti.

how is it expensive to replace files on the hard drive?

For it to happen with an unmodded Xbox, you need to move the files from PC -> USB Mass Storage (i.e. Xbox memcard) -> Xbox. Getting a USB Mass Storage device to plug into both Xbox and PC is going to require surgery on at least two cables (one Xbox and one USB). The going retail rate for each of these types of cables in my experience is about $10. The going rate for a "cheapmod" (PCB-mounted SST49LF020A) is something like $15 last I heard. OTOH, if you have a buddy who already has the file (or one with a modded Xbox who can freely do all kinds of crazy BS like copying random files to a memcard

), it's probably a bit less expensive.

edit: BTW, the memcard route only works for some of the exploits; IIRC the dashboard ones need you to actually hook up the drive and overwrite some data files. Still, this isn't an entirely unreasonable bootstrap method if you want to overwrite the onboard flash chip.

edit again: of course, you can also use the MechAssault and/or AUF exploit to bootstrap the dashboard exploit... is this sounding convoluted enough yet? Because I can probably find something even goofier if you'd like.

edit the third: link to X-S forums for no-case-cracky dashboard exploit install via MA/AUF savegame.

it's even worse, since the xbox memcard has no driver on pc, and there's no way to get the files into the right place via memcard alone either.

you gotta find an USB mem stick that is compatible, get the cable adapter, format it properly, copy various files onto it, load up 007- agent under fire or mech assault, copy them over in linux, or you have to do a hotswap with the HD from xbox to PC, be in win2k or XP, load up an extremely buggy HD driver, and pray the files are inserted before it crashes, along with hoping the HD's electronics don't die.

memstick + game price (or even game rental) is more expensive than a cheapmod. cheapmods go for as low as 9$ in some places, even less without PCB. it's 9 large spots to solder, and 1 smaller one, but nothing someone who's done psx mods can't do easily.

not to mention that if you unplug your xbox from power for longer than a few mins, causing the clock to reset, your xbox will get into an endless reboot loop with the exploit, which you can only get out of with a mod or a lot of luck.

I thought someone already figured out a way to use the x-box memory card on pc, you need the cable to hook up the xbox controller to pc, load up xctrl drivers, download xbox action replay software from their site, then plug in the memory card, point the driver installation to the action replay directory and you'll be able to use Action Replay to transfer saves. I've never tested it though, no one seems to talk about it.

The font exploit is most useful if you plan to load only xbox media player and some emulators. If you plan on upgrading to a bigger hd, using the original microsoft dashboard, or if you dont want any rebooting problems, it's better to flash the tsop or get a modchip.
